Suitcase Rimowa
The famous German luggage manufacturer Rimowa has joined forces with the French coat brand Moncler. This is a Rimowa Classic Flight model in aluminium with a huge matt Moncler logo. Nothing very original so far, but the difference is inside! The suitcase is fully lined in an equivalent material to the Moncler down jackets. The handles are also decorated with topstitched fabric to make them more comfortable.
The result is beautiful, and your clothes will be well cared for.
RIMOWA, exceptional suitcases for 80 years
As the RIMOWA brand celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2017, I think it is still relevant to tell you about it. As I have just returned from my trip, I can tell you how much having a heavy suitcase can be a burden. Even if my trip was short, carrying a suitcase of nearly 50 pounds (which includes the weight of the suitcase) is never pleasant. If the suitcase were lighter, it would be much easier to carry, easier to handle. It was my friend Cindy Laverdière who gave me the name RIMOWA when I was asked on Facebook a few years ago, I think it was her mother who had one or something like that.
The purchase of a suitcase, a discount race that has no reason to be.
While most consumers who buy a suitcase will look for the discount before the quality, it is often a disappointment they will have on their future trips. The suitcase being too heavy, not adapted, poorly designed. In short, so many irritants in such an important purchase that can completely transform an experience into a pleasant to unpleasant journey. Do your research before you shop, evaluate your needs, go to suitcase specialists, compare, try, don't be influenced by price even if it's so tempting. And remember that low prices rarely go hand in hand with quality.
RIMOWA, 80 years of expertise in the manufacture of suitcases
Created in 1898, it was in the 1930s, when the RIMOWA factory caught fire, that the company grew rapidly. Because, after this fire, only one material remains, a silvery, light grey, flame-resistant metal. In 1937, already firmly established, the company revolutionized the world of travel by launching the production of ultra-light luggage, made of aluminium. As we can still see today, the aluminium case has stood the test of time - and even more so, it has gradually established itself as the flagship product of the RIMOWA brand. In 1950, the launch of a new aluminium line with its characteristic grooved structure definitively confirmed the reputation of the RIMOWA models, becoming the symbol of a high-end travel culture that we still know today. Even more so, since it has been owned by the LVMH group (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy).
It was in 1976 that a new innovation was introduced with the development of the first waterproof camera luggage, which protects fragile equipment from water and humidity, quite interesting and really ahead of the times. In 2017, a new generation of the Topas grooved model is launched: a further decisive step for RIMOWA's iconic aluminium case.
RIMOWA: an iconic design
While people often try to change in order to be different from others, RIMOWA has remained true to its heritage and has kept the original concept of the aluminium case unchanged. During the production phase, the aluminium body - a very robust material combining sleek design and durability - is meticulously finished by craftsmen, transforming its smooth surface into a shiny grooved case. No less than 205 parts and more than 90 transformation phases are required to produce a suitcase, all verified and assembled by humans, incredible in this generation of automation. In exactly 117 minutes, a classic Topas suitcase is completed and ready to leave the Cologne factory. Throughout its existence, the dents, scratches and stickers that will appear on its surface will serve to remind you of the different stages of a shared history.
